More than 2,000 people gathered to mourn the three men killed at the Islamic Center of San Diego.

Amin Abdullah, the security guard who engaged the teenage assailants in a gun battle, Mansour Kaziha, the center's handyman and cook, and Nadir Awad, whose wife is a teacher at the mosque, had given their lives to protect others.
